At our last Saskatchewan Cowboy Dressage show in October we introduced, for the first time ever in Canada, the new Drill Team division. A group of enthusiastic ladies from Estevan entertained us. This group, better known as the ‘Senior Pink Ladies’, supporting stunning pink wigs, had been practicing throughout the summer to perfect their drill. They dressed in pink to dedicate their ride to a special little girl, a granddaughter to one of these ladies and a member of our SK CD.

So, let me digress a little…at our annual club fundraiser in March we had a true gathering that represented everything that is special about the generosity of our Saskatchewan small town communities and Cowboy Dressage. The letter ‘C’ on our dressage court is dedicated in memory to those that are or have been touched by cancer.   We hold a live auction of donated items, and this was a special year. One of our members’ granddaughter had been diagnosed with a malignant ewing’s sarcoma on her tibia. Through the auction and generous donations we were able to donate a set of BOT boots for her horse and money to her family. Now back to present and our October show… the ride finishes, the ladies turn and salute the crowd…AND the granddaughter was in the stands! She was standing with help of a walker and had won her battle against cancer! There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as this brave little girl came down and presented us with this poster with her thanks.
